PASIR PUTEH – “Don’t be afraid of vaccines” are the words uttered by most senior citizens who received their vaccine jabs during the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Kelantan which began today.
Most of the senior citizens met by reporters advised the people, especially the young, to register for the vaccination in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Wan Muhammad Wan Adam, 71, said vaccines are not dangerous. “God willing, this method (vaccine jab) can prevent us from getting infected by Covid-19, this is not only for our own health but for the people around us as well,” he said.
Wan Khadijah Wan Salleh, 81, said she had been looking forward to getting the vaccine since the start of the first phase of the vaccination programme in February.
“I can’t wait to be vaccinated – and hopefully, it will prevent us from getting infected by the virus. So, I call on others to register for the vaccination. Don’t be afraid because it doesn’t hurt,” she said.
Meanwhile, Pasir Puteh district deputy chief Mohd Kamarulzaman Ab Wahab said about 120 senior citizens in the district had been vaccinated during the second phase of the Kelantan-level vaccination programme.
“So far, based on the records we have, more than 18,000 out of 90,000 residents of Pasir Puteh have registered as vaccine recipients via MySejahtera.
“I hope that those who have not registered will do so immediately as the number of people who have registered is very small,” he said. – Bernama, April 22, 2021
