KUALA LUMPUR – A fire broke out on the 12th floor of a block at the Bukit OUG Condominiums complex in Bukit Jalil here tonight.

Videos of the incident posted online showed parts of the roof collapsing, with the burning debris falling onto an awning below.

A witness who recorded the fire said it occurred at Block 9 of the complex.

The Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said its Kuala Lumpur operations centre received a call on the blaze at 9.14pm.

Fire engines and 45 personnel were deployed from the Bukit Jalil, Hang Tuah, Sri Petaling and Seputeh stations.

Senior operations commander Mohamad Hafidz Yaakob said the first firefighters arrived at 9.23pm.

Two condo units went up in flames, he said, with one 90% burnt and the other seeing 60% damage.

The blaze was brought under control at 10.10pm, and extinguished at 10.31pm, he said.
