SHAH ALAM – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) implemented at SM Sains Banting in Kuala Langat starting yesterday followed the detection of a Form 1 student with Covid-19 symptoms on April 12.

District Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Jusni Hashim, in a statement, said the student was confirmed positive on April 15.

He said another two infections were detected among the student’s close contacts.

“As a result of the three cases, the district health office conducted 206 preliminary screenings. Of the total, 71 students tested positive.

“The health office also confirmed that the spread of cases is ongoing in the locality, with a high infectivity rate. This is due to the Jalan Shah Banting cluster.”

He said the EMCO imposed on SM Sains Banting, which is in place until May 7, involves 966 students, teachers and school staff. – Bernama, April 25, 2021
