KUALA LUMPUR – All primary and secondary school students will be resuming home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) after the end of the Hari Raya holiday season, said Education Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.
Radzi said the ministry will implement PdPR for two weeks after the festive school holidays end.
In a Facebook post, he said the Hari Raya holiday will begin May 11, as previously mentioned.
However, the ministry has decided that Group A schools will take replacement days for May 9 and 10, while Group B schools will start the holiday on May 10.
He said, therefore, Group A schools will be off from May 7 to 15, while Group B’s break will be from May 8 to 16.
“In the context of teaching and learning, the Education Ministry has taken the approach of implementing PdPR for two weeks after the festive holidays.
“This is to reduce the risk of (Covid-19) infections that may occur outside school during the festive season, which can increase transmissions in education institutions under the (Education Ministry).”
The ministry’s decision affects some 2.7 million primary school pupils and 2.03 million secondary school students nationwide.
Some 170,000 students from day-boarding schools and 100,000 from full boarding schools will also be allowed to return to their homes.
The directive means that the PdPR will be in effect for 10 days until May 28 for schools in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor, and May 29 for other states. – The Vibes, April 26, 2021
