JOHOR BARU – Police yesterday detained three foreigners for allegedly robbing and attempting to rape a senior citizen in Taman Skudai.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief Dzulkhairi Mukthar, in a statement today, said the suspects – a 26-year-old Bangladeshi and two Myanmar nationals, aged 21 and 26 – are construction workers.
The men were nabbed about 2.30pm.
Dzulkhairi said in the 3.30am incident, the victim, a 65-year-old housewife, was sleeping in her house when she heard someone trying to open the window.
“She then saw a dark-skinned foreign man, topless and wearing only underwear, standing in front of the bed and holding an iron rod.”
The suspect left after forcing the woman to hand over RM500, he said.
“Police seized several items, including the iron rod, a crowbar and a mobile phone.”
He said the Myanmar duo were arrested for alleged abetment.
All the suspects will be remanded today under Sections 392/397 and 354 of the Penal Code, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. – Bernama, April 27, 2021
