KUALA LUMPUR – A doctor at a government hospital in Selangor is among six individuals arrested on Wednesday, on suspicion of involvement in a drug-trafficking syndicate.
They were arrested at a house in Taman Sri Manja, Petaling Jaya.
All the suspects are local men aged between 26 and 30.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, in a statement last night, said a raid on the house found 11 plastic packets containing compressed lumps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, weighing 1,913g with an estimated value of RM4,900, and RM1,450 in cash.
The drugs are enough to supply 1,913 addicts, he said.
“During the raid, police also seized four cars of various models, namely a Honda City, Perodua Viva, Perodua Myvi and Mitsubishi Triton, and a Yamaha Nouvo LC motorcycle, all valued at RM139,500.
“Five of the suspects tested positive for drugs. All six do not have previous criminal records.”
He said the suspects have been remanded for seven days, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama, April 30, 2021
