GEORGE TOWN – “I am still not satisfied (with the explanation of Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim Chee Keong) because it does not answer the real issue,” said Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) senior lecturer Kamarul Zaman Yusoff.
Kamarul when contacted by The Vibes said he was looking for Foodpanda rider Anas Hazmi Ahmad, 22, in good faith because he only wanted to help the Ungku Omar Polytechnic student.
“I am looking for him (Anas) because I want to help him, not to make him look like a criminal as alleged.
“In fact, I am also perplexed with the information given by Sim. For example, how can some people work with a salary of RM500 a month when we already have the minimum wage act?” Kamarul told The Vibes via a WhatsApp message.
He also claimed the Polytechnic Department of the Education Ministry is also looking for more information about Anas because it was embarrassed that the polytechnic graduate is living in poverty with a salary of only RM500 a month.
“Please remember, Sim said the boy graduated from a polytechnic institution and worked in Penang.
“This contradicts my proven investigation which found out that he is still a polytechnic student. If I don’t look for this information, this matter will definitely not be known forever,” he said.
Kamarul said if Anas wanted confidentiality, the matter should not be publicised on social media.
“I have contacted him (Anas) and his father to offer help from other parties if they really need help, but they did not answer calls and WhatsApp messages.”
Asked about the “loss” of his Facebook account, Kamarul explained that he was suspended from making any comments and posts for three days for allegedly violating Facebook’s community standards.
Therefore, he said, he had lodged a police report yesterday and will take legal action against those who spread slander claiming that he criticised the royal Perlis institution, following the recent meeting between the Raja Muda of Perlis and Sim.
“When the fake Facebook post was activated, my Facebook account was fined and not allowed to make any posts or comments for 24 hours.
“However, when my Facebook account was allowed through, at about 6.30pm, April 28, I uploaded a post to deny that I had ever made any derogatory posts on the Raja Muda of Perlis.
“I also listed 12 individuals who spread lies on the fake Facebook posts and I plan to sue them.
“However, at about 9pm, April 28, my Facebook account was fined once again and not allowed to make any posts or comments for three days because of the denial I posted earlier.”
It is understood that among the 12 individuals are Kedah DAP vice-chairman Zulhazmi Shariff; PKR Youth Perlis Padang Besar branch chief Amar Abd Jalil; and Amanah Johor Ledang division chief Azhar Ismail.
