KUALA LUMPUR – There has been a significant drop in Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 tally, with 2,881 infections recorded today, down from yesterday’s 3,788.
Selangor again tops the list with 759 cases, followed by Sarawak (445) and Kelantan (442).
Kuala Lumpur has 315 cases, trailed closely by Johor with 310.
Penang registered another 133 infections, followed by Kedah (111), Negri Sembilan (89), and Sabah and Perak (64 each).
Melaka has 54 cases, Pahang (47), Terengganu (42), and Labuan and Putrajaya (3 each).
Perlis has no new cases.
The country logged 2,462 recoveries today, for a cumulative total of 380,442 Covid-19 patients discharged since the start of the pandemic.
Adding to the 1,521 death toll, 15 fatalities were recorded today. All of the deceased were Malaysians.
Of the 29,631 active cases, 337 are in intensive care while 176 require intubation.
Fourteen new clusters were reported today comprising four workplace, four community, four education-related and two religious activity-related clusters. Today’s new clusters were detected in Johor, Selangor, Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka, Terengganu and Perak.
The 14 new clusters add up to 395 active ones, bringing the total to 1,669 clusters. The ones with the highest caseload increases are the Pagar Sri Lalang (78 infections), Jalan Kempas Satu (62) and Long Jegan (51) clusters.
The four new community clusters are:
– Sg Nirai in Selangau, Sarawak with 41 cases;
– Umas in Kalabakan, Sabah with 34 cases;
– Seri Jati in Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah, Melaka with 12 cases, and;
– Jalan Sepat in Larut, Matang and Selama, Perak, with 11 cases.
The four workplace clusters are:
– Jalan Garuda in Johor Baru and Kulai, Johor, with 15 cases;
– Jalan Sg Sembilang in Kuala Selangor, Selangor, with 14 cases;
– Jalan Kilang Dua in Lahad Datu, Sabah, with 11 cases, and;
– Durin in Bau, Sarawak, with eight cases.
The clusters related to religious activities are:
– Sebatu in Jasin, Melaka with 27 cases, and;
– Air Budi in Alor Gajah, Melaka with 15 cases.
The clusters stemming from education institutions are:
– Lestari Perdana Tujuh in Petaling and Hulu Langat, Selangor, with 86 cases;
– Saujana in Setiu and Besut, Terengganu, with 25 cases;
– Persiaran Sinaran Ilmu in Johor Baru, Johor, with eight cases, and;
