KUALA LUMPUR – The Jalan Raja Alang and Taman Setiawangsa Ramadan bazaars, which were ordered to close for three days from today, have been allowed to resume operations with the deployment of additional enforcement officers.
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall in a statement today said the move is taken after it received the latest information on the bazaars, adding that the deployment of additional enforcement officers is to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are adhered to and tightened to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“City Hall will take stern action against those who do not comply with SOPs. We also require the organisers to ensure that SOP compliance is implemented effectively.”
City Hall is also awaiting the latest decision from the National Security Council and Health Ministry regarding the operation of the two Ramadan bazaars.
According to the Housing and Local Government Ministry yesterday, 22 out of the 1,073 Ramadan bazaars operating nationwide have been ordered to close for three days, from today.
The directive comes after the ministry received analysis based on contract-tracing data via MySejahtera and the Health Ministry.
Yesterday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had called on Malaysians to strictly adhere to SOPs, especially at Ramadan bazaars, schools and public events. – Bernama, May 1, 2021
