HEAVY rain accompanied by strong winds yesterday caused several incidents around Kuala Lumpur, including fallen trees, broken branches and damage to residential roofs.
At Jalan Pantai Murni 7, Pantai Dalam, a fallen tree blocked the main road.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) teams together with the Fire and Rescue Department acted immediately to cut and remove the obstruction with the help of tow trucks, allowing the road to be reopened quickly.
Several incidents of fallen branches were also reported on Jalan Bangsar towards the KTM roundabout and at the Tunku Jaafar Intersection.
The cutting and clearing operations were carried out in an integrated manner by DBKL in collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Police, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and the Kuala Lumpur Command & Control Centre.
Meanwhile, at Jalan Cenderasari, a fallen tree completely blocked the road.
DBKL and the teams immediately acted to get the road reopened, while Alam Flora was notified for the clearing work.
At the Sri Cempaka People's Housing Project (PPR), Jalan Pantai Dalam, the roofs of Blocks E and F were torn off due to strong winds, affecting several residential units and vehicles.
APM, DBKL and the police teams went to the location to conduct a census, security control and provide initial assistance to residents.
No casualties were reported and DBKL expresses its appreciation to all security agencies for their strong coordination that successfully controlled the situation.
