KOTA BARU – People living in Kelantan have been urged to comply fully with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of infections, as virus cases surge in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob who made the call said with the rising number of daily cases in Kelantan, the state government was concerned that if compliance with SOPs continued to be ignored, the number of Covid-19 infections would continue to soar.
“Currently we have opened six PKRC (Covid-19 low-risk treatment centre) in Kelantan and more might be opened after this,” he told reporters after visiting the PKRC at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Salor, here today.
Today, Kelantan recorded 400 new infections, down by 42 from yesterday.
Meanwhile, Yakob said he did not rule out the possibility of the movement control order (MCO) being implemented in Kelantan as the state’s daily cases were still in the triple-digits.
He said Kelantan would abide by the directives from the federal government to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the state, including the full enforcement of the MCO. – Bernama, May 2, 2021
