KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Sekolah Menengah Ugama (Arab) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung, Tumpat, Kelantan, which was scheduled to be lifted on May 13, has ended today.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this followed a drop in Covid-19 cases, and the cluster is under control while all positive cases have been isolated and admitted to quarantine centres.
“The government has agreed to end the EMCO at SMU (Arab) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung, Tumpat, Kelantan, today, much earlier than scheduled.
“This was after conducting risk assessment with numerous agencies in the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Health Ministry (MoH),” he said.
He said this in a statement on the development on MCO here today.
To date, he said, MoH has carried out 329 screening tests in the cluster concerned, of which 181 came back positive.
Meanwhile, the government had also decided to end the MCO in the sub-districts of Endau and Triang in Mersing, Johor, tomorrow as scheduled.
On SOP compliance, Ismail said 500 more individuals were detained yesterday.
He said 215 were detained for failing to record their personal details when entering premises, entertainment centre activities (77), failure to observe physical distancing (55), not wearing face masks (53), and other offences (100). – Bernama, May 2, 2021
