KUALA LUMPUR – Singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin will be investigated for allegedly violating health standard operating procedures during her second child’s tahnik ceremony at the family’s residence in Bukit Antarabangsa.
Police in a statement said photos carried with a news article showed several popular personalities and a preacher in attendance.
Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the attendees did not obtain police approval for interstate travel, and that the ceremony was held without compliance with SOPs to curb Covid-19.
He said a report has been lodged and an investigation initiated under Rule 19 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
The organiser has been identified and summoned to give a statement, he said.
Earlier today, Siti Nurhaliza and her husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, issued a statement denying that they violated the SOPs during the event.
The couple said the preacher did not travel out of state as he was already in Kuala Lumpur.
Tahnik is an Islamic ceremony to welcome a newborn.
The event for Siti Nurhaliza’s child was reportedly attended by celebrity preachers Azhar Idrus, Don Daniyal and Iqbal Zain, and Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri. – The Vibes, May 3, 2021
