KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in five localities in Hulu Besut, Terengganu, and one in Machang, Kelantan, will end tomorrow as scheduled.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a statement today, said the areas in Hulu Besut are Kg Belaoh, Kg PPRT Belaoh Baru, Kg Keruak, Kg Pak Sik and Felcra Keruak.
The locality in Machang is Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Wa Qiraat (MTAQ) in Pulai Chondong.
“In Hulu Besut, the Health Ministry reports a downward trend in Covid-19 cases, and the clusters are under control,” said Ismail Sabri.
“The latest infections, numbering four, were recorded on April 20, all of whom have been treated, and their close contacts have also completed the 14-day observation period.
“At MTAQ, the ministry confirmed a drop in cases, too, with the last 16 infections recorded on April 30.”
He said Taman Tanah Putih Baru in Kuantan, Pahang, will be placed under the EMCO from May 5 to 18.
“As of May 2, the ministry recorded 11 cases out of 40 tests carried out on residents. Twenty-nine samples are awaiting their results.”
He said 519 individuals were arrested for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures yesterday, with 508 compounded and 11 remanded.
Among the offences are failure to record customers’ particulars/registering their entry (207 cases), failure to observe physical distancing (72), activities at entertainment centres (60), not wearing a mask (50) and others (130). – Bernama, May 3, 2021
