JITRA – The Kedah Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has frozen cash and assets worth RM8.1 million in connection with cases of graft, power abuse and false claims in the state, in the first four months of the year.
Director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said 47 individuals, including 26 civil servants, were arrested in the same period, and 33 investigation papers opened.
“Of the total probe papers opened, 24 were for accepting bribes. The rest were for giving bribes, making false claims and abusing power,” he told reporters here today.
“Twenty cases have been brought to court under the MACC Act 2009 and Penal Code.”
He called on civil servants with information on corrupt activities to report them to the agency. – Bernama, May 4, 2021
