KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia inches closer to the 4,000 mark with today’s 3,807 daily cases, of which Selangor has 1,149 infections.

The Health Ministry also recorded 17 more deaths, bringing the toll to 1,700. The deaths today involved four in Selangor; three each in Penang and Melaka; two cases each in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak; and case each in Sabah, Kedah, and Kelantan.

The new infections bring the country’s cumulative total of infections to 444,484.

Sarawak logged 649 cases, followed by Kelantan (329), Kuala Lumpur (320), Johor (257), Penang (245) and Kedah (224).

Negri Sembilan has 144 cases, followed by Perak (119), Sabah (96), Terengganu (93), Melaka (88), Pahang (77), Putrajaya (11), Labuan (3) and Perlis (3).

In a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the recoveries today stand at 3,454 cases, pushing the total discharged to 405,388.

He added that five of today’s cases were imported, of which two were locals and the others being foreigners.

Of the 37,396 active cases, 434 are under intensive care while 224 required breathing assistance.

He said a total of 1,807 clusters have been recorded, including 19 new clusters today. Clusters that have ended are at 1,359, while 448 clusters remain active.

Of today’s new clusters, seven are related to workplaces; five came from religious activities; another five were found in the community; and two were related to education.

Selangor recorded the Balakong Jaya Tiga workplace cluster in Hulu Langat with 10 cases; the Jalan Raja Musa workplace cluster in Kuala Selangor with 6 cases; the Desa Kemuning religious activity cluster in Klang with 10 cases; the Jalan Haji Alias religious activity cluster in Klang with 13 cases; and the Jalan Jurutera education cluster in Petaling and Gombak with 12 cases.

Johor logged the Jalan Maharani cluster in Muar and Tangkak with 33 cases; the Jalan Kesyukuran religious activity cluster in Kota Tinggi with 14 cases; and the Kampung Sawah community cluster in Pontian with six cases.

In Penang, the Bukit Minyak Lapan workplace cluster was recorded in Seberang Prai with 37 cases. Kedah saw the Dah Empat Kota workplace cluster in Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Pendang, and Yan with 10 cases; and the Dah Lalang religious activity cluster in Baling with 13 cases.

Sabah registered the Kompleks Empat cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Papar, Penampang, Putatan, Ranau, Sandakan, and Tuaran with 26 cases.

Pahang logged the Gudang Genting workplace cluster in Bentong with 14 cases, while Kelantan saw the Pekan Pasir Mas religious activity cluster in Pasir Mas and Machang with 51 cases.

In Sarawak, the Ulu Anap community cluster was recorded in Tatau and Bintulu with 19 cases; and the Emperan community cluster in Selangau with 97 cases. Terengganu logged the Pelagat Tiga community cluster in Besut with 32 cases.

Finally, Perak registered the Parit Lima community cluster in Hilir Perak with 10 cases; and the Jalan Baling education cluster in Hulu Perak with 41 cases. – The Vibes, May 10, 2021
