KUALA LUMPUR – The country today recorded 4,113 new Covid-19 cases, a decline from yesterday’s worrying 4,855, with Selangor accounting for 1,269 of the fresh infections, reported the health director-general.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest cases take Malaysia’s overall coronavirus tally to 462,190.

He said another 34 fatalities were registered, pushing up the death toll to 1,822.

Trailing Selangor in second place is Sarawak with 533 infections, followed by Kelantan (371), Johor (335), Kuala Lumpur (306), Penang (266) and Kedah (228).

Pahang saw 178 new cases, Terengganu (165), Perak (147), Negri Sembilan (124) and Melaka (107).

Sabah recorded 53 cases, Putrajaya (20), Labuan (6) and Perlis (5).

With 4,190 new recoveries, the total stands at 418,897.

Of the 482 Covid-19 patients in intensive care, said Dr Noor Hisham, 250 require respiratory assistance.

As for clusters, 461 remain active including the 13 new ones identified by the Health Ministry today. 

Four of these new clusters all involved worksites. The Jalan Balakong Cluster, Tg Dungun Cluster, Menara Jalan Putra, and Persiaran Utara recorded 225 infections cumulatively. 

As for clusters involving the community, four were detected as well. The Bukit Pauh Cluster, Sg Lebai Cluster, Sg Rayah Cluster and Jalan Mawar Pasak Cluster registered 86 cases altogether. 

The ministry also identifed two clusters invoving religious activities, namely the Dah Mahsuri Cluster and Kg Batu Muda which logged 67 infections in total. 

Meanwhile, the Jalan Tegas and Lebuh Lembah Permai Cluster both involve educational institutions, registering 38 infections in total. 

Only one cluster concerning high-risk individuals was identified, the Lebuh Katz Cluster which logged 36 cases. – The Vibes, May 14, 2021
