IPOH – A man has been fined RM2,000 for hosting a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Tg Malim yesterday.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said officers went to the location about 5.45pm after receiving several complaints.

“By the time police arrived, the guests had left, and only the 31-year-old man was home. He admitted to having earlier held an open house,” he told reporters after checking on operations at a roadblock at the Ipoh Utara toll plaza here today.

The man is a private sector employee.

Mior Faridalathrash urged people not to go visiting throughout the movement control order (MCO), which is slated to end on June 7, especially in view of the state recording the highest Covid-19 infectivity rate in the country yesterday.

From last Wednesday until yesterday, he said, 116 compound notices were issued for MCO standard operating procedure violations, including 41 for attempting unauthorised interstate travel.

Nonetheless, the SOP compliance rate in the state stands at 96%, he said.

In the same period, police received 8,807 interstate and inter-district travel applications, of which 8,647 were approved, said Mior Faridalathrash.

“A married couple were fined for abusing the privilege given to couples in long-distance relationships. Both were actually travelling together.” – Bernama, May 15, 2021
