KUALA LUMPUR – Umno permanent deputy chairman Datuk Seri Rizuan Abdul Hamid died at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) last night.
The news on the death of Rizuan, who was also Kepong division chief, was shared by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on Facebook.
“Let’s pray that his soul is placed among the righteous.”
It was reported that Rizuan tested positive for Covid-19 in a May 1 screening, after which he was admitted to UMMC’s intensive care unit on May 3.
His wife, former auditor-general Tan Sri Madinah Mohamad, is also reportedly being treated for the coronavirus at the same hospital.
Kepong Umno division vice-chief Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman said Rizuan, who breathed his last at 10.53pm, will be buried at the Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim cemetery.
He described Rizuan as an experienced politician who contributed much to Kepong folk.
“Rizuan served as Kepong division chief for more than 30 years. He was among the longest-serving division heads in Malaysia.” – Bernama, May 21, 2021
