PUTRAJAYA – There will be no electricity supply cut for domestic users in the peninsula with fewer than six months’ arrears as of June 30, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
The initiative, in cooperation with Tenaga Nasional Bhd, will benefit 6.96 million consumers amid the movement control order (MCO), he said in a statement today.
As part of efforts to help domestic users manage their outstanding power bills, he said, the easy payment plan has been extended until December 31.
“Hopefully, this initiative will be able to preserve the well-being of the people in the current challenging economic situation.”
On December 21 last year, Shamsul Anuar said the government agreed that no electricity cut would be imposed on domestic users with fewer than six months’ arrears, from January 1 to March 31 this year.
This category of consumers is provided a facility to schedule payment instalments for six months, from January 1 to June 30.
