JOHOR BARU – Seven private hospitals will begin operating as coronavirus vaccination centres in Johor from June 1 as part of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan in a statement today said it involves four private hospitals here, and one each in Batu Pahat, Kluang and Muar.

“These private hospital vaccination centres will administer between 250 and 1,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine a week.”

He said the general practitioner vaccination centres (PPVGP) have increased by six since May 5, namely five here and one in Batu Pahat.

“The additional private clinics take the total PPVGPs to 43 across the state.

“These clinics will administer 36 to 90 doses of Covid-19 vaccine per week. However, the number of doses depends on the capacity of each clinic.”

According to Vidyananthan, private medical practitioners under ProtectHealth who are involved in the programme are prohibited from obtaining lists of vaccine recipients by advertising on social media or messaging apps as it may cause confusion and misunderstanding among the public.

He said so far, the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee has provided 26 vaccination centres in the state – six in Johor Baru; three each in Kota Tinggi and Mersing; two each in Batu Pahat, Kluang, Muar, Pontian, Segamat, Kulai and Tangkak. – Bernama, May 28, 2021
