BEAUFORT – A 56-year-old man has been arrested over allegations of raping a 24-year-old disabled woman five times.
The suspect was picked up by police on Wednesday after the victim’s mother lodged a report earlier this week.
Beaufort police chief Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said the woman told her mother that she was raped, with the most recent incident taking place on May 17.
“The suspect had allegedly warned the victim against telling anyone about the rape incidents.
“The victim has also claimed that she was molested several times,” he said, adding that she has been sent to hospital for examination.
Yusoff Zaki said the woman has a speech impediment, and had a tough time giving her statement.
