KUALA LUMPUR – Those who receive appointments for the AstraZeneca vaccine immunisation although they have not applied for it may have been registered by other individuals without their consent.

In a statement, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) indicated that it has found such anomalies in the registrations.

“The CITF found that a large number of these registrations were done through various similar IP addresses,” the statement by CITF read.

CITF has already contacted one of the parties that made mass bookings for the AstraZeneca jab – which happens to be SELangkah, an application by the Selangor government that is similar to the federal-run MySejahtera.

“SELangkah had informed that they made registrations for AstraZeneca shots without first checking if the individual was in the ImuniSEL database and agreeable to receive the vaccine.”

ImuniSEL is an outreach campaign by the Selangor government aimed at increasing the vaccine registration rate among the state’s residents, in support of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

“SELangkah has also given their guarantee towards working with the CITF to resolve this issue, and ensure individuals would get back their initial appointments,” the statement added.

CITF has been facing various issues with regards to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Only yesterday the task force had to apologise for technical glitches during the AstraZeneca opt-in registrations on May 26.

Many netizens took to social media to air their frustrations, which include not being able to choose a vaccination centre and date for their jab.

The registration drive which began at 12.15pm, saw nearly one million registrations after more than one hour.

Due to the overwhelming response to the AstraZeneca vaccine, Science, Information, and Technology Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that the vaccine will no longer be available on a voluntary opt-in basis. – The Vibes, May 28, 2021
