MIRI – Sarawak recorded four Covid-19 deaths and 513 new infections today.

The two fatalities in the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching involved a woman aged 82 and a man aged 69, one death was registered in Bintulu Hospital involving a man aged 72 and another fatality in Sibu Hospital was that of a 74-year-old man.

“With these latest fatalities, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has reached 284,” said the state Disaster Management Committee when extending condolences to the families of the deceased.

Kuching district recorded the highest with 117 new infections followed by Miri with 109 new cases, Sibu 47,  Bintulu 44, Sri Aman 33, Subis 23 and numerous other districts below 20 new cases each.

The committee said another two new outbreaks were found today in two new clusters.

The Gerigat cluster in Kabong saw 20 people in a village infected during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering, while the Sungai Parik cluster in Sri Aman saw 24 people infected in the locality.

There are 80 clusters in the state with some 46,000 infections to date. – The Vibes, May 30, 2021
