KUALA LUMPUR – Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah, Maszlee Malik (Simpang Renggam), Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir (Jerlun) and Datuk Shahruddin Salleh (Sri Gading) are the latest lawmakers to seek a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

They are all with Pejuang, the party set up by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who himself made a fresh request for the motion yesterday.

Amiruddin, in his letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun, asked that the motion be tabled at the coming parliamentary sitting, which begins on November 2.

“This motion is to rule that Muhyiddin, who is Pagoh MP, no longer has the support of the majority of the Dewan Rakyat.”

This comes two days after Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah disclosed that he submitted a similar letter to Azhar on September 25.

The Gua Musang MP said the tabling of the motion is vital to determine the legitimacy of the Perikatan Nasional government, and is seeking a guarantee that it will be given priority in the next Dewan Rakyat session.

He noted that Muhyiddin previously refused to allow two similar motions to be tabled by listing them at the end of the Order Paper.

In response, Azhar said under the Standing Orders, priority goes to government matters and urgent bills, with private motions to be listed according to their date of submission.
