KUALA LUMPUR – The nation today recorded another 7,452 Covid-19 infections, making for a total of 610,574 since the pandemic began.
Of the total, only eight are imported, reported the Health Ministry.
The highest number of virus patients in intensive care units was also recorded today, with 886. Of the total, 446 required breathing support.
The nation recorded 109 Covid-19 deaths, bringing the cumulative number to 3,291.
There were also 6,105 recoveries.
Selangor again leads with 2,509 new cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (843) and Kuala Lumpur (678), reported the Health Ministry.
Sarawak logged 651 cases, Johor (412), Penang (370), Kelantan (312), Pahang (286), Kedah (263), Sabah (259), Perak (252), Melaka (206) and Labuan (205).
Terengganu added 190 infections to its caseload, Putrajaya (12) and Perlis (4).
As for clusters, the ministry said 701 remain active, including the 24 new ones today.
Of the new clusters, 17 involve worksites in Penang, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. They recorded 447 cases in total.
Five community clusters have been identified in Perak, Sabah and Sarawak, and recorded 261 cases in total.
The ministry also identified one cluster involving high-risk individuals and another involving an educational institution in Kuala Lumpur, with a cumulative caseload of 258. – The Vibes, June 5, 2021
