KUALA LUMPUR – Three higher education institution vaccination centres (PPVs) will begin operation as early as next week, says Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad.
In a statement today, she said the PPV at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam Campus will open its doors on June 7, while the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) PPV and USM Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (@AmDI) PPV will open on June 14.
“These three PPVs are part of 19 such centres proposed by the ministry to help the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in its efforts to provide the people with more access to the vaccination.”
The Berlian hall, which will act as the PPV at UiTM Puncak Alam Campus, has a capacity of 1,500 people, and will operate from 9am to 8pm.
As for the USM PPV, the Covid-19 vaccination will be conducted at examination halls A and B, with a targeted 400 to 1,000 doses daily.
Noraini said both PPVs – at UiTM and USM – will provide drive-through facilities for special cases, such as persons with disabilities.
She said for the @AmDI PPV, the Covid-19 vaccination will be conducted at the Al-Azahari hall, which can accommodate 200 people, with 1,000 recipients targeted daily.
The PPVs at USM and @AmDI will operate from 9am to 5pm, she added. – Bernama, June 5, 2021
