Kelantan cop remanded for allegedly raping woman detainee

KOTA BARU – An officer stationed at the district police headquarters here has been remanded for four days from today over allegations of raping a woman detainee on Saturday.

Kelantan Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Wan Khairuddin Wan Idris said the 29-year-old suspect, who is married, will be remanded until Saturday.

He said the woman, a 27-year-old widow with two children, was arrested with her ex-husband in a raid by a Kota Baru Narcotics CID team on June 4.

Following the raid and arrest, the former couple were remanded at the Pengkalan Chepa police station lock-up for seven days until June 11 for investigation.

“According to the victim, she was brought out of the lock-up and taken to the suspect’s room at the Kota Baru police headquarters CID.

“While in the room, the suspect said the case could be settled if the victim followed what he wanted and forced the victim to carry out oral sex and intercourse.”

Wan Khairuddin said investigation is conducted under Sections 376 and 377C of the Penal Code. – Bernama, June 9, 2021
