BUTTERWORTH – Five men and a woman were arrested and sound and lighting equipment seized after police busted a party at a house here.

Seberang Prai Utara police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the ambush was conducted by the D7 team from the state police contingent.

He said a public address system and laser lights were also seized from the premises.

“The suspects, aged between 21 and 38, were detained for violating Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 10 (1) Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases (No. 2) Regulations 2021 for flouting the standard operating procedures for gathering and entertainment at a premises.

“The suspects were brought to the district police headquarters in Bertam, Kepala Batas and after undergoing urine tests, three men tested positive for methamphetamine and the woman was positive for ketum.”

Noorzainy said operations against social gatherings are ongoing and police will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone involved in immoral activities while violating the SOPs.

He added that since the implementation of the lockdown from June 1 until yesterday, police had issued 191 compounds amounting to RM725,5000.

A total of 66 individuals were fined for interstate and inter-district travel, all amounting to RM330,000. – The Vibes, June 10, 2021
