KUALA LUMPUR – The three-month deferment of National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan repayments is for borrowers who have lost their source of income or seen their earnings adversely impacted amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid in a statement today said no supporting documents are required to be furnished, and that the deferment begins in the month an application is approved.
“The approval will be informed via email within three working days. Borrowers are reminded to update their contact details.”
Yesterday, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad announced that the government has agreed to extend the deferment period to assist borrowers financially affected by the pandemic.
A deferment was granted to all PTPTN borrowers between March 19 and December 31 last year, with the initiative continued from January to last month.
Dasuki said applications can be made from today until August 31. – Bernama, June 10, 2021
