PUTRAJAYA – Those involved in the All Together Now Malaysia (ATNM) talent search TV programme, including 50 celebrity judges, will be summoned to the Putrajaya district police headquarters to facilitate investigations into alleged non-compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

District police chief Mohd Fadzil Ali said the probe is into the purported breach of recovery movement control order rules, namely for not wearing a mask while in public and negligent behaviour that may lead to the spread of a dangerous disease.

The investigation is being carried out under Regulation 18 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Local Areas of Infection (Recovery Movement Control) Regulations (No. 3) 2021 (PU (A) 98/2021) for non-compliance with the SOPs, as well as Section 269 of the Penal Code.

He said initial investigations found that the filming of ATNM was done at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre from March 3 to 11, during which RMCO SOPs governing the creative industry were in force.

The producers were required to comply with the said SOPs, which allowed recording to take place with the presence of spectators not exceeding 50% of the venue’s capacity, and with rules including the use of masks and observing physical distancing in place.

Fadzil said the case will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor once police wrap up their probe.

The Astro Production programme, which was broadcast on June 6, received mixed reactions for showing the 50 judges not wearing a mask. – AFP, June 11, 2021
