KUALA LUMPUR – Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman is mulling legal action against those he said has tarnished his reputation following last month’s Kelana Jaya LRT collision.
He was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that news reports on the incident have tarnished his reputation and portrayed him as insensitive to the plight of the victims.
He said the news reports did not take into account the entire incident but made it controversial and seemed to have an agenda to tarnish his image.
“I am humiliated in front of the nation as someone who is unqualified, insensitive, racist, violates standard operating procedures (SOPs) so much so that some started a petition seeking my resignation. Every one of them is hitting out at me, and some took the advantage of reporting it to the police.
“It's not fair to me, one day, I will identify who is really behind this, and I will take action according to the law,” he told reporters after presenting aid at his MP service centre in Chenderong Balai, Pasir Salak today.
Tajuddin – who was recently removed as Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman – said at the start of the press conference that he attended a day after the collision, he had expressed grief and disappointment over the incident.
He said Prasarana acted immediately by holding discussions to help the victims, including bearing the cost of medical treatment and special assistance to those who lost income due to the incident.
“So, how is it that we were uncaring? I challenged them to look back at the video of the press conference and prove I was insensitive.
“Is it just because I joked a little and mentioned the clash of the two trains as a ‘kiss’? That was taken as I am not caring and sensitive?
“People who know me know how I am, but those who don’t know me are playing up stories, as if there is a political agenda to tarnish my image.”
Tajuddin said his Prasarana dismissal was not a big issue.
“I have no problem with that, no revenge. Let time determine the truth.”
Questions were raised on social media regarding the Pasir Salak MP’s absence on the night of the collision, coupled with calls for his resignation. – The Vibes, June 13, 2021
