PUTRAJAYA – Private medical practitioners are expected to be able to administer 145,000 coronavirus vaccine doses a day from next month if they are involved in the national immunisation programme, said coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said more than 430,000 vaccine doses have been given to private health practitioners registered under ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd for use in the vaccination drive as of last Friday.
“Private medical practitioners will contribute 60,000 doses a day this week, and this will increase to 78,000 a day on June 23.
“Our projection is private medical practitioners will help administer 145,000 doses a day next month,” he said at a joint media conference with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
Khairy said RM14 will be paid to private health practitioners and RM1 to ProtectHealth, a company under the Health Ministry, for the shot.
“Payment to ProtectHealth is for charges to administer the programme, such as training, development of a proprietary system, registering the private medical practitioners and to monitor vaccination activities, among others.”
Khairy said six mega vaccination centres are open nationwide and will be able to cater to 30,000 individuals daily.
Dr Adham said the participation of private medical practitioners is still open, especially at Covid-19 screening and vaccination centres nearby their respective locations. – Bernama, June 14, 2021
