KUALA LUMPUR – DAP’s national congress, which was set to take place on Sunday, has been officially postponed indefinitely.

In a brief statement today, DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke said the decision was made after the party had received a reply letter from Registrar of Societies (RoS) director-general Jasri Kassim, dated June 11, over the party’s appeal to postpone the event.

“In the letter, the RoS said annual general meetings for all registered societies, including political parties, will have to be postponed throughout the movement control order (MCO).

“The RoS also requested that the party propose a new date for DAP’s party congress as well as additional standard operating procedures once the MCO ends,” he said.

As such, the Seremban MP added that the new date for DAP’s national congress can only be determined after the MCO has been ended by the government.

Earlier, 10 of the party’s state committees managed to hold their conventions between March and early May. State conventions in Selangor, Perlis, Labuan, Sabah, and Sarawak are yet to be held. – The Vibes, June 16, 2021
