KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has logged another 5,911 coronavirus cases, bringing the total tally to 691,115 since the pandemic erupted.
In the lead is Selangor once more with 2,111 fresh cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (770), Sarawak (569), Johor (498) and Kuala Lumpur (483).
Perak registered 245 cases, followed by Kelantan (223), Kedah (204), Sabah (201), Labuan (185), Penang (167), Melaka (134), Terengganu (62), Pahang (56), and Putrajaya (3).
Perlis is the only state without any new Covid-19 infections today.
There were 6,918 recoveries today, which puts active cases currently at 64,523. A total of 72 new Covid-19 fatalities were also recorded today.
A total of 886 virus patients are currently in intensive care units nationwide, while 441 require ventilator support.
There were also 24 new Covid-19 clusters detected, with 12 of them involving workplaces in Selangor, Johor, Malacca, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, and Pahang.
In total, these worksite clusters registered 593 infections.
As for community-related clusters, seven were identified involving Kelantan, Sarawak, and Johor with a total of 165 Covid-19 cases.
Three clusters were identified from detention centres in Johor, Kelantan, and Labuan with an accumulated number of 87 infections.
Only one cluster involving high-risk groups was identified by the ministry in Kedah, which registered 29 infections. – The Vibes, June 19, 2021
