BEAUFORT – After three days of searching, police have arrested the suspect who had allegedly hit and slapped his wife and a 1-year-old baby.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested at 2.30am today by police personnel and officers from the Beaufort Criminal Investigation Department, testing positive for methamphetamine and the district police headquarters.

Beaufort police chief Yusoff Zaki Mat Yaacob said the suspect was arrested at an unnumbered house in Kg Batu 30, Kimanis, three days after he fled from his home.

The suspect was brought to the Beaufort police headquarters for further investigation.

The case is investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Last Wednesday, the suspect’s 23-year-old wife had lodged a police report claiming that the suspect had hit her and their 1-year-old son, after he was agitated by the infant’s cries.
