Singapore sees 35th virus death, new infections include 3 M’sians

SINGAPORE – A 44-year-old permanent resident is the latest Covid-19 fatality in Singapore, taking the republic’s total to 35.

In its report last night, the Health Ministry said the victim was admitted to Alexandra Hospital on May 25 and confirmed positive for the disease the next day.

Labelled Case No. 63,752, he died two days ago.

“He had not been vaccinated against Covid-19, and had a history of diabetes mellitus,” said the ministry.

Singapore’s 34th coronavirus death was recorded on June 8.

Meanwhile, three Malaysians are among the city state’s 16 new infections yesterday, with one linked to the 115 Bukit Merah View Market & Food Centre cluster.

The index case in the cluster, which has a total of 78 infections to date, is a 74-year-old Singaporean man who works at a sundry store at the centre.

He tested positive on June 9.

The country’s total caseload stands at 62,430, with 38 clusters still active. – Bernama, June 22, 2021
