KUALA KANGSAR – Police will call up activist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin to facilitate investigations into a poster he uploaded to Facebook and Twitter depicting Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad once they receive an order to investigate (OTI) from the deputy public prosecutor.

“We have not called him up because we are awaiting the OTI, as it’s the DPP who decides whether the case is investigated,” Kuala Kangsar district police chief Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob told the press in Lubuk Merbau near here today.

He said police expect to receive the OTI this week.

On June 17, Perak Umno Youth chief Mohd Ariff Abdul Majid lodged a report at the Kuala Kangsar district police headquarters over the poster, which he described as slanderous and a deliberate attempt to incite hatred against Saarani.

The next day, state police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid was reported as saying investigation papers have been opened in accordance with Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – Bernama, June 22, 2021
