IPOH – Perak Umno Youth chief Mohd Ariff Abdul Majid has lodged a police report over a poster uploaded to Facebook and Twitter that he said is slanderous and a deliberate attempt to incite hatred against the menteri besar.
He made the report at the Kuala Kangsar district police headquarters about 4.15pm.
Ariff said the poster was uploaded by activist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin, with the caption “kita dah bagi makan sardin, jangan gatal nak mintak ayam pulak” (we have fed you sardines, so don’t be itching for chicken).
“(The poster also) accuses Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad of being arrogant in the issue of providing mobile phones to poor students in the state,” said Ariff in a statement.

“To be sure, I referred to a video clip on the Perak menteri besar’s official Facebook page, and found that the phrase used is different from that contained in the poster uploaded by Fahmi Reza, which is not true and not mentioned by Saraani.”
In the clip of Saarani’s press conference, he said, the menteri besar only made an analogy in relation to mobile phones contributed by YTL Foundation to the state government for distribution to poor students.
“He gave the analogy of it not being polite if the state government turns down the contribution, which is to facilitate poor students’ e-learning.
“In this regard, it is clear that the poster uploaded by Fahmi Reza is slanderous, and was made to incite hatred.” – Bernama, June 17, 2021
