KOTA KINABALU – Sabah state government urged factories to have no more than 60% of its employees working, after ten out of 30 factories in Tawau failed to follow the instruction and were slapped with compounds.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said surprise inspections were conducted on factories in Tawau and Lahad Datu between June 13 and June 23.
The inspections which were aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19 in factories were conducted by the Industrial Development Ministry, Industrial Development and Research Department, Tawau District Council, Lahad Datu District Council, Royal Malaysian Police, Health Ministry, and Immigration Department.
“In Lahad Datu, 36 factories have been inspected, and all complied with the 60% workers instruction. But four workers were fined for not wearing masks,” Masidi said in his daily Covid-19 update statement here today.
Meanwhile, Sabah recorded the new Tembok cluster today, after a detainee was transferred from a police lockup in Lahad Datu to a quarantine block.
Even though the detainee was quarantined, he tested positive for the virus during the 10th day of screening on June 21, and had infected three of his cellmates, three wardens, and two other detainees, making a total of nine Covid-19 cases in the cluster.
Sabah recorded 189 new Covid-19 cases today, with the highest in Kudat (56), Kota Kinabalu (29) and Kota Marudu (21).
Out of 27 districts in the state, 18 districts are categorised as a red zone, two are orange zones, five are yellow and while Beluran and Tenom are green zones. – The Vibes, June 26, 2021
