Kelantan police to conduct parallel probe into 2 cops under MACC investigation

KOTA BARU – Kelantan police will give full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s probe into two senior cops.

State police No. 2 Abdullah Muhammad Piah said the force will also conduct an internal investigation, in parallel with MACC’s.

“In the meantime, I urge police personnel to not get involved in corruption, as this destroys the image of and public confidence in the force,” he told reporters in Taman Kurnia Jaya, Pengkalan Chepa, today.

A senior police officer was remanded yesterday following the arrest of another cop for allegedly soliciting a RM200,000 bribe from a drug-dealing couple. The officers are being held for five and four days, respectively.

Asked about police’s action against the duo, both 48, Abdullah said they have been suspended from their duties, and if found guilty by the court, will see their services terminated. – Bernama, July 11, 2021
