BATU PAHAT – A 31-year-old assistant fruit seller was arrested at his home in Ayer Hitam, Johor for allegedly uploading an Instagram video that is said to have insulted Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
State police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the man was believed to have issued abusive and obscene words via an account called @amirul_naito.
He added that the police received 10 reports on the 32-second video and investigations are being conducted under Section 4(1) Sedition Act 1948, Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act.
“The individual is found to have a criminal record under Section 506 and 427 of the Penal Code and served a sentence in 2017, and 2020,” said Ayob Khan during a press conference on the Facebook Polis Johor page today. – The Vibes, July 12, 2021
