IPOH – The high court here was today told that eights “spots”, believed to be semen stains, were found on a mattress cover in the house of Tronoh assemblyman Paul Yong, who has been charged with raping his Indonesian maid.
Investigating officer V. Simon, 38, of the Perak police contingent headquarters’ forensic division, said this during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Liyana Zawani Mohd Radzi.
“Four strands of hair were also found on the mattress,” said the 14th prosecution witness when shown case exhibits for identification.
He said among the items taken from the scene are a mop, male underwear, clothing, a pair of shorts, panties and a bra.
Judge Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed then adjourned the trial, with the witness to continue giving his statement tomorrow.
Yong, 51, pleaded not guilty to a charge of raping his maid at his residence in Meru Desa Park here between 8.15pm and 9.15pm on July 7, 2019.
The case was earlier mentioned at the sessions court, but on December 15 last year, the Federal Court allowed the defence’s application to transfer the case to the high court for trial.
The rep was first charged at the sessions court here on August 23, 2019, when he held the post of state Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Villages Committee chairman.
Earlier, the court heard the statement of Chor Pei Sun, a 47-year-old marketing employee at the maid agency that managed the victim’s employment.
The 11th witness said the company received a call from the victim’s employer on her medical check-up prior to the alleged incident.
“I received a call from the employer (Yong’s wife) before the case, asking whether there was any problem with her (the victim’s) medical check-up,” she said during cross-examination by counsel Salim Bashir.
Chor did not agree when asked whether the victim had mental issues before coming to Malaysia, but said she is unable to remember when Salim suggested that Yong’s wife contacted her to find out about this specifically.
The witness said she received a call from the victim’s employer only once, on whether the victim’s check-up passed checks by the Foreign Workers’ Medical Examination Monitoring Agency.
In today’s proceedings, the court heard statements from another three witnesses, including Kwan Mei Yee, 46, a clerk at the maid agency who answered a call from the Indonesian embassy informing of the victim’s complaint on July 8, 2019, a day after the alleged incident.
The other witnesses were maid agency director Hong Ngin Sin and company driver Tan Cheoh Teong. – Bernama, July 12, 2021
