PUTRAJAYA – A public inquiry under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 to review the mandatory standard for electromagnetic field emission (MS for EMF) from radio communications infrastructure – Determination Number 1 of 2010 will be held from today until September 17.
According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the review is important in line with the advancement of communication technology, such as 5G, and in assuring the public that EMF from radio communications infrastructure in the country is safe and being regulated effectively and efficiently.
“This review, among others, will cover the process of updating EMF exposure limits based on the latest guidelines of the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection recognised by the World Health Organisation,” said MCMC in a statement.
As such, it invites members of the public to participate in the public inquiry by making written submissions either in hard copy or electronic copy.
All submissions must be sent to MCMC latest by noon on September 17, and addressed to MCMC, Menara 1, Jalan Impact, Cyber 6, 63000, Cyberjaya, Selangor, or emailed to this email address, or faxed to 03-8688-1000.
All submissions must be stated with “Attention: Technology Development Department”.
MCMC said it will give due consideration to the submissions before releasing a report within 30 days after the end of the public inquiry.
