[UPDATED] Virtual CACs set up to quash surging Klang Valley Covid-19 cases

KUALA LUMPUR – The overwhelming surge in virus cases in the Klang Valley has led to the setting up of virtual Covid-19 assessment centres (CACs).

Greater Klang Valley Special Task Force spokesman Datuk Dr Chong Chee Kheong said all Covid-19 patients in the Greater Klang Valley area who are experiencing mild symptoms are advised against visiting physical CACs and to undergo home isolation and remote surveillance instead.

In a statement, he said close contacts of Covid-19 patients are now required to self-isolate with no need for testing unless they are displaying symptoms.

Apart from home quarantine, those who test positive for Covid-19 and are asymptomatic are advised to download the MySejahtera app to report their test results and receive their digital Home Surveillance Orders (HSOs).

The HSO serves as a reminder that they are still legally under the order, although they are not issued with a pink tag.

Dr Chong said patients will also have to use the Home Assessment Tool on the MySejahtera app on a daily basis.

He said patients’ self-assessments will be monitored through the Virtual CAC Management Module within the eCovid19 system, and they will be contacted by the CAC call centre if necessary.

He added that patients who are required to visit their nearest CAC for a clinical assessment will be notified via MySejahtera or the call centre.

“In the event of worsening symptoms, patients should seek immediate care at the nearest hospital instead of waiting for a call from a virtual CAC.”

He also said the implementation of the new recommendations and virtual CACs will decongest physical CACs.

He said this will improve waiting time and ensure early monitoring for all Covid-19-positive cases, adding that it will enable easy and quick referrals for patients experiencing worsening symptoms to the nearest CACs or hospitals.
