ALOR SETAR – Sultan of Kedah Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah has consented to the 14th Kedah state assembly to be held from September 20 to 23.

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the setting of the date was decided during the state executive council meeting today.

“Sultan Sallehuddin has given his consent for the state government for the sittings to be held on those dates. Additionally the ruler also expressed his consent to deliver the inauguration order online from Istana Anak Bukit,” he said in a media statement today.

On July 17, Sanusi informed that the Kedah state assembly sittings which will be held face to face is scheduled for the second week of September after obtaining the consent from the sultan.

According to him, his party received a briefing from the state legal adviser and the state assembly notice can only be issued after the Proclamation of Emergency ends on August 1.

The Kedah state assembly was last held on November 15 to 19 last year.

Sanusi had presented the 2021 state budget according to the strict standard operating procedures issued by the National Security Council and the Health Ministry.

In June, Kedah Pakatan Harapan reportedly urged Sanusi to appear before the sultan to immediately to seek consent for the reopening of the state assembly. – The Vibes, July 28, 2021
