KOTA KINABALU – Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has called on Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his cabinet to resign, saying there is no need to wait until September for a confidence vote as it will get in the way of the tabling of the budget.
Saying that his party stands firm in not supporting the embattled Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, Shafie said he is not alone in calling for the cabinet to resign.
“Warisan’s stand is shared by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Anak Kujat and Selangau MP Baru Bian from Parti Sarawak Bersatu, as well as Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau from Upko,” he said in a statement here today.
The Semporna MP also slammed several reports being spread claiming that Warisan supports PN as being false and malicious.
“With reference to the parliamentary proceedings, we demand that Parliament should convene immediately to show whether Muhyiddin indeed has support in the Dewan Rakyat.
“That will clear the air. There is no need to wait until September. This motion of confidence should be the sole issue debated in this immediate session,” he said.
The motion of confidence, Shafie said, should not be mixed with the other issues of the 12th Malaysia Plan and Budget 2022 to be discussed in the parliamentary session scheduled in September. – The Vibes, August 4, 2021
