KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Pakatan Harapan Youth chief Phoong Jin Zhe has welcomed the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) into the federal opposition fold, calling for the unity shown by Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Avengers to be emulated.

Together, he said, the opposition’s “Avengers” will be able to “overcome the darkness” as one team.

His statement comes after PH chief secretary Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail’s announcement that Upko has joined the pact.

“I truly appreciate and commend the efforts by Upko to strengthen the opposition camp and stand firm in our struggle for the people.

“In line with the recent political impasse, PH officially extended an invitation to all opposition parties to join it, to better prepare for the 15th general election.

“We have shown great unity since 2018, and the opposition should continue to be steadfast in pursuing a democratic, progressive and inclusive governance.”

At the time of writing, however, Upko had not confirmed whether it had joined PH.
