KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has lambasted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s ministerial picks, describing the line-up as a disappointing “recycled cabinet”.
In a brief Facebook Live video, the PKR president said the “new” ministers will not be able to inject economic confidence.
“As the opposition, we will monitor, comment and loudly object if there are no programmes that are better and more effective in dealing with Covid-19, and can bring meaningful changes to the livelihoods of Malaysians.
“But I believe it is clear that it (the cabinet) will not be able to inject new spirit or confidence into domestic and foreign investors.”
The Port Dickson MP took note that Ismail Sabri has given his cabinet members 100 days to demonstrate their performance.
However, he said, many, despite already being ministers for the past 1½ years, have yet to have strong achievements to show for.
Ismail Sabri’s cabinet line-up is essentially a reshuffling of his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s picks, with only a few new faces. – The Vibes, August 27, 2021
