KUALA LUMPUR – Pressmen gathered at the Umno headquarters here today for a special Barisan Nasional meeting were treated to a late lunch of fried chicken, courtesy of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s fledgling party, Pejuang.

While journalists, numbering more than 100 from both local and international news outlets, waited for the outcome of the meet at Putra World Trade Centre, four big packs of KFC were delivered at 4.45pm.

A Pejuang representative told The Vibes that the party appreciates the media’s good work covering Malaysia’s latest political upheaval.

“I’m sure it has been stressful days for the press, and we heard that some 100 (members of the) press haven’t had lunch while at the Umno HQ.

“It was the sensible thing to do.”

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir, once an Umno strongman, set up Pejuang in August after he was unceremoniously booted out of Bersatu, the political outfit he formed along with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The BN meeting was called after the king yesterday rejected Muhyiddin’s bid to declare an emergency to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. – The Vibes, October 26, 2020
